CS 1.6 with bots: practice right in the browser

2026-08-24

Bots are the best sparring partner for anyone who is just learning CS 1.6 or wants to practice a new map in peace, with no teammates yelling. In the browser version at PLAY-CS.COM the bots are already set up: no podbot downloads, no waypoint tinkering, no config editing — just join a server where they are enabled.

How it works

The servers run classic podbots — the same ones that lived on public servers in the 2000s. They buy weapons, follow sensible routes, plant and defuse the bomb. And the setup plays fair:

So a bot practice session smoothly turns into a regular match as people trickle in.

Where to find a server with bots

The easiest way is to rent your own server: bots are enabled with a checkbox in its settings, where you also pick the map and their count. On your own server you decide how many bots to keep and what password to set — practice alone or with friends.

Bots cannot walk every map: their routes (waypoints) exist per map. The full list of maps with waypoints lives on the bots page — all the classics, from dust2 to inferno, have been there for years.

What bot practice actually gives you

  1. Map knowledge. Walk every corner in peace and learn where enemies usually come from — a bot punishes mistakes but never trash-talks.
  2. Aim. Practicing spray and recoil control on moving targets beats shooting at a wall.
  3. Economy and timings. Rounds follow normal rules, so buy discipline and timer habits build up on their own.

Getting started could not be simpler: pick a quieter server or spin up your own with bots — the game opens right in the browser. And once you feel confident, read the de_dust2 breakdown — it helps far more against humans than against bots.
